THE CRICKET BURBLE TEAM
Mailie Lee
Mailie's cricket playing career was rather short lived (top score 9 not out in the girls North Shore under 14's), but after discovering later in life that the best cure for a hangover in the 40 degree Sydney summer was 7 hours of test cricket and 2 litres of diet coke, she has become an avid watcher and lover of cricket ever since.
Having four cricket obsessed older brothers means Mailie's knowledge of cricket is not without its merits, and she prides herself in knowing the all the technical nuances of the modern game, such as the difference between sledging and bad sportsmanship (answer: usually Steve Waugh...)
Born in New Zealand, Mailie moved to Sydney when she was 12, and has just about made up her mind to support Australia, although she will always have soft spot for Daniel Vettori. She now lives in London, where she is lucky enough to work at the same marketing agency as fellow burbler Ed. Mailie is still waiting for Ed to return her hospitality from the Sydney Ashes 06/07 and take her to Lords.
Favourite cricketing memory:
"There can be only one. Warnie's first ball of the '93 Ashes to Mike Gatting - the ball of the century. The look on Mike Gatting's face is unforgettable. See the clip on YouTube
Also, the time Joel Garner autographed the portrait I had drawn of him. Considering I was 6 at the time, it was quite exciting!"
