THE CRICKET BURBLE TEAM
Ed Lamb
Ed decided to set up Cricket Burble because he likes to have an opinion about all things cricket. While going around the world for 8 months on a long honeymoon, he and his wife wrote a blog which was meant to describe the goings on during the 8 month trip, but with England playing Australia in the Ashes in that time, and the World Cup going on while the newlyweds were in India, some readers complained that the blog was more about cricket than a trip around the world.
Ed's desire to give his opinion on cricketing matters often results in egg on face. But despite this his club offered him the captaincy of the 1st team a few years ago where he was able to put his questionable tactics into action. Some said that 3 slips and "buying wickets" was too attacking, and they were right with several games nearly thrown away on the captain's wim. Although Ed claims to be an all-rounder if you ask him, this is only because he is equally bad at all disciplines, although there has been a recent high point when he scored his first century for several years at the start of the 2007 season.
Having returned to the UK in May, Ed now has to work for a living which he does by lording it on the King's Road at the marketing agency, Tullo Marshall Warren. He and his wife Michelle live in Putney, for the time being, while they look for a more permanent home as they settle into married life in the UK. Ed is determined to spark an interest in cricket from Michelle but it's not looking good - the advertised "drinking in the sun" at the MCG during their honeymoon became more like "shivering in the cold under a rug" as temperatures in Australia plummeted leaving Michelle somewhat disenchanted with the game. She can still recognise Kevin Pietersen at an airport from 50 metres away though!
Favourite cricketing memory:
"Hmm, it's a toss up (geddit?!) between getting 7 for 13 at the age of 13 in an adult game (it has been all downhill from there), and watching England beat the Aussies easily in the Twenty20 at the Rosebowl in 2005 - the atmosphere that evening was amazing."
